Two years after the deadly Mundakkai-Chooralmala disaster, a fresh landslide at Kalladi in Wayanad has revived painful memories for survivors. The July 7, 2026 landslide struck the Anakkampoyil-Kalladi-Meppadi tunnel project site, killing eight people and injuring ten. While 178 families received houses in the first phase of the government’s Kalpetta rehabilitation township, several survivors are still waiting for permanent homes. Families including Rasheed and Serena continue living in government quarters as they await relocation.
