The industry expects a growth-based Budget that will specifically address the issues faced by it today, setting for an upward growth trajectory. From rationalisation of tax structure to easing of business through single window clearance, the expectations are wide and varied.
The industry expects implementation of e-visa and treating the sector on par with the export industry. The sector needs to be exempted from state and central taxes. It is also important to increase the infrastructure capabilities for smooth handling of large tourist influx.
There is also a need to modernise the airports across the country, especially in the smaller towns. This will lead to better management and operation, which in turn will boost leisure and business travel.
Sound infrastructure, improved economy and uniform tax reforms will enhance leisure, business and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) travel, and all categories of specialised tourism in and out of the country.
