Without directly naming the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Kalyan took a swipe at Tamil Nadu politicians for what he described as double standards on Hindi.
In a powerful statement, Nirmala Sitharaman calls out the hypocrisy within the DMK party over the Tamil language controversy. She questions how they can worship a figure who repeatedly called Tamil "a barbaric language" while accusing others of being disrespectful. Sitharaman also highlights the double standards by pointing out how Dharmendra Pradhan is being criticized for simply urging people to avoid uncivil protests. Watch this video to hear her strong words on the issue and the inconsistencies surrounding the DMK’s stance on Tamil.
Pradhan did not hold back in criticising the DMK government, alleging that their opposition to NEP 2020 was a political stunt.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has launched a scathing attack on the DMK over the New Education Policy (NEP) and the three-language row, accusing them of dishonesty and political mischief. Pradhan alleged that the DMK is not committed to the students of Tamil Nadu and is ruining their future by raising language barriers instead of focusing on education reforms. He further called the party undemocratic and uncivilized, claiming that their only agenda is politics, not student welfare. The DMK, which has been opposing the three-language formula, argues that it is an attempt to impose Hindi in Tamil Nadu. The debate has intensified, adding to the ongoing political battle over education policies in the state.
The Punjab government has declared the Punjabi language mandatory for Class 10 across all boards, opposing CBSE's draft policy which excluded the language. The state insists on its inclusion, warning certificates could be void without it.
As per the approved guidelines, the exams will be held in two phases — one between February and March, and the other in May.
The battle over the New Education Policy (NEP) has intensified in Tamil Nadu, turning into a full-fledged political storm. Chief Minister MK Stalin has vowed not to implement NEP in the state, calling it a “betrayal” of Tamil speakers and a policy that creates hurdles for children from marginalized communities in the south. Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan hit back, asserting that NEP does not impose any language and urging Stalin to rise above politics. Meanwhile, tensions escalated on the ground as DMK workers defaced Hindi signboards at Pollachi Railway Station, prompting swift action from the Railway Police. Actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has also weighed in, warning the Centre against undermining Tamil language and culture. With protests raging and strong political rhetoric on both sides, the NEP debate has turned into a critical flashpoint in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
Currently, CBSE spaces out exams to ensure no two subjects chosen by a student clash, often resulting in long gaps between papers
