Snapdeal may acquire online order management platform Unicommerce

The potential acquisition will mark Snapdeal's sixth and biggest buy, while taking the company's valuation at up to US $10 million, two sources told Economic Times.

Snapdeal, the home-grown e-commerce giant, is in talks to acquire Unicommerce, an online order management platform, the Economic Times reported on Thursday citing two sources.

The potential acquisition will mark Snapdeal's sixth and biggest buy, while taking the company's valuation at up to US $10 million, said the sources who spoke on conditions of anonymity.

The sources also told ET that Unicommerce returned an investment of $10 million (Rs 62 crore) from Tiger Global to pursue the potential acquisition by Snapdeal.

"Talks are in the late stage and this deal makes strategic sense for both parties," said one of the sources to the newspaper.

Snapdeal Co-founder Kunal Bahl had told PTI earlier, "Snapdeal is looking at acquisition opportunities across sizes, ranging from less than $1 million to $100 million."


Recently, the e-commerce major acquired online gift retailer Wishpicker in its first acquisition after $627-million Softbank fund infusion.

The online marketplace had earlier acquired Bangalore-based group buying site Grabbon.com (June 2010), esportsbuy.com (April 2012), Shopo.in (May 2013) and Doozton (April 2014).
