Ambani's vision
A 100-acre township near Mumbai, but not for luxury homes or wealthy buyers! Reliance Foundation Chairperson Nita Ambani has announced 'Nita Mukesh Ambani Anant Ashray' in Karjat, a permanent, not-for-profit residential community for more than 5,000 orphaned children, senior citizens and people with developmental disabilities. Including caregivers, medical professionals and their families, the township is expected to support around 15,000 people. But what makes this project different from conventional care homes?

Eight villages
Imagine eight villages, each named after one of India's sacred rivers, spread across a massive 100-acre township. That's the unusual design planned for Nita Ambani's Anant Ashray project. Every village will have its own colour, symbol and sensory garden to help residents identify their surroundings independently. Instead of traditional institutional housing, people will live in smaller family-style homes with dedicated caregivers, personal spaces and opportunities to build lasting relationships.

Lifelong promise
What happens to orphaned children, ageing individuals and people with developmental disabilities who require lifelong support? Nita Ambani's proposed township aims to address that challenge by combining permanent accommodation with personalised care. According to Reliance Foundation, every resident will receive an individual plan covering healthcare, education, employment, friendships and personal well-being. The project promises more than shelter, with facilities designed to help residents live with greater independence and dignity.

Medical ecosystem
An entire hospital, rehabilitation centres, schools, farms and vocational workshops inside a residential township? Nita Ambani's Anant Ashray project plans to bring all these facilities under one roof. A specialised hospital will offer epilepsy treatment, developmental medicine, special-needs dentistry and palliative care, while rehabilitation centres will provide physiotherapy, speech therapy and hydrotherapy. The township will also feature cafés, bakeries, craft studios and recreational spaces, creating opportunities beyond medical treatment.
