Desi Harley
Harley-Davidson has unveiled the Sprint 440, a new cruiser developed in partnership with India's Hero MotoCorp. The motorcycle combines classic American cruiser styling with a 440cc single-cylinder engine and modern technology. Set for its public debut at EICMA 2026 in Milan, the Sprint 440 marks another step in the Harley-Hero partnership. But despite its Indian connection, its first confirmed US rollout is scheduled for spring 2027.

Cruiser muscle
The Sprint 440 may be smaller than Harley-Davidson's traditional cruisers, but it packs an interesting combination of performance and practicality. Its 440cc air-and-oil-cooled engine produces 26.7 bhp and 38 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist-and-slipper clutch. Harley claims fuel efficiency of approximately 34 kmpl. However, its compact 9-litre fuel tank raises an important question for riders planning longer journeys.

Low rider
Harley-Davidson's new cruiser has a feature that could appeal to shorter riders and beginners. The Sprint 440 offers a remarkably low laden seat height of just 671 mm, complemented by a narrow fuel tank and relaxed riding posture. It also gets 43 mm upside-down front forks, twin rear shock absorbers and a 19-inch front wheel. But its 147 mm ground clearance could become an important consideration for Indian road conditions.

Digital surprise
Classic Harley-Davidson looks meet modern motorcycle technology in the Sprint 440. The cruiser features a circular 3.5-inch colour TFT instrument cluster, full-LED lighting, a USB-C charging port and ABS. Riders can also personalise the bike with optional saddlebags, a detachable windscreen, passenger backrest and alternative handlebars. With its teardrop fuel tank and swept-back handlebar, Harley is trying to blend traditional cruiser appeal with everyday convenience.

Price suspense
Harley-Davidson has revealed the Sprint 440's international pricing, but Indian buyers still face a major question. The motorcycle starts at £4,995 in the UK, while its US price is around $6,000. Reports suggest a possible India price near Rs 3.5 lakh, although neither Harley-Davidson nor Hero MotoCorp has confirmed this figure. With the X440 already available in India, the Sprint 440's eventual positioning could become an interesting part of Harley's strategy.

Launch mystery
The Sprint 440 is headed for an international rollout, but its India launch remains uncertain. Harley-Davidson has confirmed US availability from spring 2027, with final assembly at its York, Pennsylvania facility. The motorcycle will make its public debut at EICMA in Milan from November 5 to 8, 2026. Despite Hero MotoCorp's involvement in its development, an Indian launch date and local price have not been announced, leaving enthusiasts waiting for the next update.
