Mahindra’s first teaser moves the three-door Thar facelift from test-mule speculation to an announced product update. The reveal is scheduled for September 22, 2026. The short lead time matters to prospective buyers: anyone close to booking the present model can wait for the official equipment and price announcement rather than deciding from camouflaged prototypes alone.

The teaser confirms a redesigned front grille—and little else

The official image shows a mud-covered grille with vertical openings and mesh inserts, accompanied by the line “An icon, now more iconic.” It does not provide an unobstructed view of the headlights, bumper, wheels, rear styling or cabin. The grille is therefore the only visible design change that can be described as company-confirmed before the full reveal.

Spy images point to Thar Roxx-inspired lighting and new wheels

Test vehicles have reportedly shown circular projector LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime-running lights, an altered bumper and fog-lamp housings, plus a different alloy-wheel design. These details are consistent with a family resemblance to the five-door Thar Roxx, but Mahindra has not confirmed them in the teaser. They should remain labelled expected until the production SUV is shown.

A digital cluster and automatic climate control are reported, not confirmed

Reports have linked the facelift with a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and an auto-dimming inside mirror. A 360-degree camera and ventilated front seats have also been discussed as possibilities. None was visible or confirmed in the first teaser, so buyers should not choose a variant or estimate its price on the assumption that every reported feature will reach production.

The existing three-engine range is expected to continue

Current reporting expects the 1.5-litre turbo-diesel, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engines to carry over. The smaller diesel is expected to remain paired with a manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive, while the larger engines are expected to retain manual or automatic and four-wheel-drive choices. Final outputs and variant combinations require Mahindra’s September 22 specifications.

The facelift’s price has not been announced

The outgoing three-door Thar is reported at approximately ₹10.32 lakh–₹18 lakh ex-showroom, depending on variant. Reports expect a modest increase, but no facelift price was official as of September 18. Buyers should compare the final on-road price, not just the starting ex-showroom figure, because tax, insurance, registration and accessories can materially change the household budget.
