Planning a Jaipur trip? Add these Four underrated places to visit for stepwell architecture, block printing, sacred springs and garden views

Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Amber Fort dominate most Jaipur itineraries. However, the city and the Amer area also offer stepwell architecture, pilgrimage sites, textile heritage and landscaped gardens that deserve more time.

Located close to Amber Fort, Panna Meena Ka Kund is a traditional Rajasthani stepwell recognised for its geometric arrangement of staircases. It is an attractive addition to an Amer itinerary, although visitors should not be promised an entirely crowd-free experience.

Galta Ji is an ancient Hindu pilgrimage complex amid the Aravalli Hills. It contains temples, pavilions, shrines, natural springs and sacred water tanks. The resident monkeys have also given part of the complex its popular “Monkey Temple” identity. 

Situated in a restored historic haveli in Amer, the Anokhi Museum presents block-printed textiles, tools, images and demonstrations explaining Rajasthan’s hand-printing traditions. Its conservation project received a UNESCO cultural-conservation award in 2000.

Kanak Vrindavan is an approximately 275-year-old garden at the foothills of Nahargarh. Its eight sections combine Mughal and Rajput design elements, including marble fountains, chhatris and a Krishna temple.
