Samsung Galaxy Glasses are officially here: Gemini AI, 12MP camera, 9-hour battery, Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 — all specs and price

Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy Glasses at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026. The first smart glasses from Samsung run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chip, pair with both Android and iPhones, and ship this fall. Samsung collaborated with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster on the frames.

The Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 is Qualcomm's first chip purpose-built for smart glasses — not a repurposed phone processor. It runs AI tasks locally, meaning voice commands, live translation and object recognition work without draining the battery. It is the same chipset used in Meta's Ray-Ban glasses.

Galaxy Glasses feature a built-in camera that feeds directly into Google's Gemini AI assistant. Gemini can generate answers based on what the camera sees — identify objects, read signs, translate in real time and even reserve a restaurant table for you. All hands-free.

Samsung claims 9 hours of battery life — and the charging case provides up to 7 additional full charges. Features confirmed at Unpacked: calls, music, photos, live translation, voice control, message summarisation, notifications read aloud, and touch interaction on the temple.

Samsung is testing gesture controls for Galaxy Glasses through its Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Ring. A specific wrist gesture on a Samsung smartwatch — or a finger gesture via the Galaxy Ring — could trigger functions on the glasses. "More designs and colours" will be available at retail launch, per Samsung EVP James Choi.

Both use Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1. Meta Ray-Ban runs Meta AI and costs around $299 (Rs 24,999 in India). Galaxy Glasses run Gemini and are expected to cost $379–499. Samsung's advantage: deeper Android integration, Galaxy Ring gesture control, live translation, and iPhone compatibility. Meta's advantage: price and availability.

Galaxy Glasses will launch in select global markets this fall — possibly September at IFA 2026. India availability is unconfirmed. Apple's rival smart glasses (Project N50) have reportedly slipped from late 2026 to late 2027, making Samsung the clear first-mover in the AI glasses category.
