Stocks in focus: Wockhardt, Tech Mahindra, BHEL and more

The benchmark Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex closed 33 points higher on Wednesday.

The NSE Nifty closed flat with a loss of 0.06 per cent

Here are the key stocks that stayed in limelight today:

 

  1. Tech Mahindra: The stock closed 14.24 per cent lower on Wednesday a day after it said net profit fell 23 per cent to Rs 472 crore in Q4. The earnings were impacted by cross currency headwinds and salary hikes. The company's revenues, however, grew 20.9 per cent to Rs 6,116.79 crore in the reported quarter.
  2. Tata Motors: The stock of  India's biggest automaker by revenue fell 5.12 per cent on BSE as it reported a 56 per cent fall in net profit to Rs 1,717 crore ($268.3 million) for the January-March quarter. The steep fall in profit was due to a spike in costs despite steady sales of its luxury Jaguar Land Rover unit and an increase in demand for its cars in its home market.
  3. Reliance Power: The Reliance Power stock closed marginally higher on Wednesday a day after the firm reported a marginal 2.8 per cent rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 276.47 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2015. Shares of the company settled at Rs 54.15, up by 1.12 per cent on BSE.
  4. BHEL: State-run power equipment maker Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) on Tuesday reported a 52 per cent fall in standalone net profit at Rs 888.35 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2015. However, the BHEL stock closed 3.34 per cent higher on the BSE.
