IndiGo to fly overseas from September 1

Budget carrier IndiGo will commence international operations fromSeptember 1 with the launch of its Delhi-Dubai daily flights. The low-cost, no-frill carrier will launch its Delhi-Singaporeflight on September 8, Delhi-Bangkok on September 15 and Mumbai-Bangkok andMumbai-Dubai flights on October 2.

"We are launching our international operations to Dubai, Singaporeand Bangkokfrom this September. Keeping the stiff competition in mind, the all-inclusivereturn fare for any of the destinations would be Rs 9,999 only," IndiGoChief Executive Officer Aditya Ghosh said.

The airline is offering 25,000 seats on this inaugural fare,he said. The carrier has also applied for flights to Dhaka and Bangkok from Kolkata,which is likely to begin next year, he said, adding that there are options ofoperating more flights on international sectors as 34 per cent of the routeauthority from Indian side were yet to be utilised.

The country's second largest airline, which has a presentfleet of 39 aircraft, has placed an order of 180 more Airbus-320.
