, one of the most innovative product s to be launched in 2012, is preparing for a hardware and software upgrade in December.

The latest version has integrated the open source XBMC media center for Android, one of the first deployments of the same for television anywhere in the world. The new EvoTV 1 GB model will feature the latest ARM Cortex A9 1 GHz processor with 1 GB RAM and Android 4.0.4 (ICS).  The new ICS operating system will bring true multi-tasking to the EvoTV.

The XBMC media player is a very powerful and user-friendly hub for all digital media and is highly customisable. "Besides the stunning visual display of media files, XBMC also offers access to reviews and ratings of movies and TV shows, skins, a wide array of games, a browser, and add-ons," explained Rajiv K Bapna, Director, Amkette. "The implementation of XBMC on Amkette's flagship devices is a reflection of Amkette's commitment to the business of smarter TV or EvoTV consumer experiences; the company is also working on developing more apps and content in 2013 that will put the XBMC to ideal use. Other changes on the box, including the OS and processor updates will keep adding to the overall experience."

The updated EvoTV 1 GB will be available by December 15, 2012 in the four metros at Rs 11,495. Those who already own the EvoTV will be eligible for an upgrade at a nominal cost.
