- It would be the successor to the Nokia C1 that was launched last year.
- The Nokia C2 is said to rock a Unisoc processor.
HMD Global could be looking to expand the Nokia C-series if the latest leak is anything to go by. A fresh report has surfaced that claims Nokia C2 is in the works. Nokia C2 would be the successor to the Nokia C1 that was launched in December last year, reviving the old Nokia C series. Nokia C1 was an entry-level smartphone without 4G but the Nokia C2 could have support for 4G networks. It will also come with support for dual SIM cards, according to the report.
The Nokia C2, model number TA-1204, has been certified in Thailand and Malaysia, according to NokiaPowerUser. The report also claims that the Nokia C2 might have been one of the devices that HMD Global was supposed to launch at the MWC 2020, which was cancelled. The smartphone will support dual SIM cards with 4G networks, the report said. It is not clear whether it will be an entry-level phone or will rather fit in the budget segment. But the report claims Nokia C2 will be powered by a Unisoc processor. There will also be new colour variants for the Nokia C2.
The price of the Nokia C2, however, has not been leaked so far. The Nokia C1 had entry-level specifications, including 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel cameras on front and back, a 2500mAh battery, and Android 9 Pie (Go edition). It was priced at around Rs 4,000, which means the Nokia C2 will cost nearly the same but expectedly a little higher. It is also not known whether the Nokia C2 will arrive in India as of now.
HMD Global, which looks after Nokia's smartphone portfolio across the world, had pulled out of the MWC 2020 last month over the Coronavirus scare. The Finnish company was expected to unveil a horde of smartphones, including the Nokia 8.2, Nokia 5.2, Nokia 1.3, Nokia 400 4G, and possibly a new phone series called Original. The company was also reported to be working on a smartwatch that could debut later this year.
Also, HMD Global is working on the sequel to the Nokia 9 PureView the Nokia 9.2 - to launch it sometime later this year. The Nokia 9.2 is said to have an under-display camera and sport flagship specifications, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC. It was previously speculated to be unveiled at the MWC event of HMD Global but the loading it with intricate features caused a delay, as per reports.
