Xiaomi is launching its first smart TV under the Redmi sub-brand tomorrow, March 17. The electronics maker has been selling smart televisions in the country under the more premium Mi branding and now plans to expand the portfolio further with the Redmi TVs. For those unaware, the company has targeted more affordable set of customers with the Redmi-branded products. It will be interesting to see how this works for smart TVs as Mi TVs are already priced quite aggressively in the country.

Xiaomi has been promoting the upcoming TV series for its 'XL Experience', hinting that it will have large screen models. There were leaks suggesting that the upcoming product could be the Redmi Max TV which was recently launched in China. However, the teaser page suggests that the television is 'Made in India' which means it could be a different model altogether.

An earlier leak had suggested last month that the Redmi TV can be launched in India two screen sizes - 55-inch and 65-inch. There is a chance that Xiaomi might add another variant to the line-up.

Xiaomi Global VP and MD Xiaomi India, Manu Kumar Jain, had also put out a tweet which confirmed that the upcoming Redmi TVs will have Xiaomi's Vivid Picture Engine along with support for HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision. There is a high chance that all models of the television will feature 4K panels, keeping up with the current times. The teaser page also highlights 'XL Audio Experience' which could be a collaboration with Dolby.

Xiaomi has also shared an image of the Redmi TV remote control. This seems very similar to the remote control that comes with the Mi TVs. It has dedicated hotkeys for Netflix and Prime Videos. In all likeness, there should also be a button for Google Assistant. For connectivity, the TV should come with multiple HDMI and USB ports. It should also support Bluetooth connectivity.

The exact pricing of the Redmi TV will be announced during the launch event but it is expected to be around the Rs 50,000 mark for the 65-inch variant. Most smart TVs in India with that screen size sell upwards of that price point. But, Xiaomi is known to shake up things.
