Samsung will host its first Galaxy Unpacked event of 2023 on February 1, where the latest Galaxy S23 series is expected to debut. Similar to last year's lineup, Samsung will launch three phones, including its most premium Galaxy S23 Ultra. Ahead of the official launch, tipster IceUniverse, who has a decent track record, shared a photo of the Galaxy S23 Ultra, revealing the back design and colour options. Similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the S23 Ultra will reportedly come in four colours - Black, Green, Pink, and Beige. However, the colour shades in the image are lighter than the shades of Galaxy S22 Ultra.
The rear panel will continue to feature a unibody design with cutouts for four cameras. The design appears to be quite boxy to house the SPen stylus. Samsung used to offer SPen support for its Galaxy Note series, but the last Galaxy S22 Ultra included a pocket for the stylus. Samsung's Galaxy Note series has been replaced by its ultra-premium Galaxy Z Fold series.
The Galaxy S22 Ultra has been a part of the rumour mill for quite a while, and the phone is said to get a big camera upgrade. The rear camera system is likely to be headlined by a 200-megapixel sensor. Notably, Samsung recently unveiled its new-gen 200-megapixel ISOCELL HP2 camera sensor ahead of the February 1 Galaxy Unpacked event.
Samsung says the ISOCELL HP2 packs 200 million 0.6-micrometre pixels in a 1/1.3-inch optical format. The same sensor size is used in a lot of phones with a 108-megapixel camera. However, Samsung will use advanced pixel binning and Dual Vertical Transfer Gate (D-VTG) technologies to offer great colours and details in both bright and low-light conditions.
Otherwise, the phone may come with an E6 AMOLED display, which was recently featured on iQOO 11 5G. The company may also use UFS 4.0 storage technology to allow the phone to open apps seamlessly and load images saved in the gallery swiftly. Otherwise, do not expect substantial changes in the design or battery charging speeds.
Apart from the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung is also expected to launch Galaxy S23 Plus and Galaxy S23. Both phones will offer more or less similar performance, but with changes in the display size. The battery capacity may also be different. Otherwise, all phones will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Samsung may also launch an additional product with the Galaxy S23 series. It could be a laptop or TWS earbuds.
