After eight straight weeks of losses, the Nifty has shown signs of a gradual recovery, crossing the 22,500 mark. But is the market close to forming a near-term bottom? G Chokkalingam, Founder & MD, Equinomics Research, says valuations have become more attractive after the sharp correction, although oil prices, inflation, bond yields, weak monsoon prospects and trade uncertainty could trigger further pain over the next two to three months. He remains optimistic on Indian equities over the medium to long term and stresses the importance of stock selection, gradual investing and diversification through bonds and deposits.
