Arvind Panagariya: No Merit In Alleging GDP Data Fudged

During the BT Banking & Economy Summit, Dr. Arvind Panagariya, Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission, discussed the issue with Siddharth Zarabi, Managing Editor of BTTV. Dr. Panagariya refuted claims regarding the manipulation of Indian GDP data, emphasizing the challenges in doing so. He explained that falsifying data would have repercussions, as it forms the basis for future assessments and would be quickly detected. India reported a remarkable 8.4% expansion in gross domestic product for the October to December quarter, surpassing economists' forecasts.
