The final voter list for Bihar is out! After months of revision under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, the Election Commission has published the updated electoral roll on September 30. The process began with 7.89 crore voters in June, but a massive deletion of 65 lakh names in the August 1 draft caused a political stir. The final list now reflects 7.42 crore registered voters. Citizens can now check their voter status on the Election Commission's website—and if you're not listed, there's still time to apply. Applications will be accepted up to ten days before the final nomination date for elections. On the political front, reactions have been sharply divided. The BJP has welcomed the revision as a step toward electoral transparency. In contrast, the opposition, especially the Congress-led Mahagathbandhan, remains skeptical. Rahul Gandhi’s Voter Adhikar Yatra was launched to protest alleged voter fraud, but new developments—like PM Modi’s ₹10,000 cash transfer to 75 lakh women—may have shifted public attention. As Bihar gears up for crucial Assembly elections, the big question remains: Will the voter list revision remain a central issue, or get overshadowed by populist politics?
