From Rail To EVs: FM Sitharaman Lists Why Tamil Nadu Wins In Viksit Bharat Budget

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman countered claims by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi in the Rajya Sabha that the Viksit Bharat Budget ignored Tamil Nadu. Sitharaman listed multiple allocations and opportunities for the state, including high-speed rail corridors, rare-earth corridors, eco-tourism trails, fisheries incentives, textile and leather sector boosts, EV manufacturing support, girls’ hostels, and urban economic regions. She highlighted heritage development at Adichanallur, benefits for Tirupur and Coimbatore industries, and Chennai’s potential as a medical and EV hub, asking whether these initiatives do not amount to tangible gains for Tamil Nadu.
