
During his visit to Bhutan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced several key initiatives to further strengthen India-Bhutan ties. Addressing a gathering in Thimphu, PM Modi revealed that India will soon establish an immigration checkpoint at Galebhu to make travel and trade easier for visitors and investors. He highlighted India’s ₹10,000 crore assistance to Bhutan’s 13th Five-Year Plan, supporting sectors like roads, agriculture, finance, and healthcare. PM Modi also announced the expansion of UPI payment services for Bhutanese citizens visiting India and celebrated youth collaboration in education, innovation, and technology — including a joint satellite project. His speech underscored India and Bhutan’s deep cultural, spiritual, and economic bonds.
