India’s private-sector CapEx cycle could finally be showing signs of a pickup, according to Christopher Wood, Global Head of Equity Strategy, Jefferies. Wood says stronger domestic data, corporate cash on balance sheets and recent reforms could help pass the CapEx baton from the government to private companies. He also highlights India’s reduced vulnerability to higher crude prices compared with the past. With oil markets facing Middle East tensions, Wood says prices could potentially reach $150 if the current news flow had emerged six months ago. He also points to China’s oil stockpiles, EV adoption and purchasing power as key factors influencing global crude prices. Wood says China may have greater leverage over Iran and the oil market than the US.
