In an extensive rescue operation in Wayanad, a joint team of the Indian Army, NDRF, Coast Guard, and Indian Navy, along with local volunteers and forest department employees, is actively searching the affected areas. The operation is divided into six zones, covering Attamala, Aaranmala, Mundakkai, Punjirimattam, Vellarmala Village Road, GVHSS Vellarmala, and downstream of the Chaliyar river. Forty rescue teams are meticulously scouring these areas. Police from eight nearby stations and skilled local swimmers are also assisting. Notably, the Indian Army successfully airlifted four stranded individuals from Padavetti Kunnu, including a woman who is now receiving medical treatment for a leg injury. Additionally, 25 ambulances are set to cross the newly constructed Bailey Bridge to reach Mundakkai, ensuring prompt medical support despite previous infrastructure damage from the landslides.
