The Chennai Central Crime Branch has searched the residence and other premises linked to former Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi in an alleged ₹100-crore private-school approval fraud case. Police say private school managements were allegedly charged money on promises of recognition, upgrades and other government clearances. DMK functionary B.T. Arasakumar, accused of collecting more than ₹100 crore, was arrested in June. The probe has reportedly covered 177 private schools. Police have also registered a case against Anbil Mahesh under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act. The DMK has called the raids politically motivated and said it will legally challenge the action.
