
The Union Cabinet has approved the Ahmedabad (Sarkhej) - Dholera Semi High-Speed Double Line rail project at an estimated cost of nearly ₹20,667 crore, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced. The mega infrastructure project is expected to significantly boost connectivity to the upcoming Dholera Special Investment Region and accelerate industrial development in Gujarat. The semi high-speed rail corridor will improve passenger and freight movement while strengthening links between Ahmedabad and one of India’s most ambitious smart city and manufacturing hubs. The project is also being seen as a major push for logistics, industrial growth and faster urban connectivity. The approval highlights the Modi government’s continued focus on large-scale railway modernisation, infrastructure expansion and economic corridor development across India. The announcement is expected to create massive opportunities in rail, construction and allied sectors.
