Five Orangutans, One Black SUV: Odisha Probe Into Possible Wildlife Smuggling

Five baby orangutans found in a forest in Odisha have sparked a major wildlife investigation, with officials probing how the critically endangered animals reached Balasore. The Odisha Police Special Task Force and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau are examining whether the animals were transported by humans and are investigating possible links to an international wildlife-smuggling network. CCTV footage from airports, railway stations and ports is being examined, while a black SUV reportedly spotted near the forest has emerged as a potential clue. The five orangutans are currently under quarantine at Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar, where veterinary teams are monitoring their health.
