
In an exclusive conversation with mutual fund distributor Alpesh Jain, the discussion focused on the rise of Specialized Investment Funds (SIFs) in India. Jain explained that SIFs use long-short strategies to generate alpha in volatile markets but are best suited for experienced investors and HNIs with a strong understanding of derivatives. He noted that SIFs fell less than traditional mutual funds in recent market corrections and suggested a 5–10% portfolio allocation. Despite being a new product category, Jain believes SIFs could see massive growth in the next few years.
