In a major infrastructure push, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the Cabinet has approved the 117.7-km Kanpur-Kabrai access-controlled Greenfield Highway in Uttar Pradesh. Costing ₹7,145.14 crore, this 4-lane corridor (designed for future 6-laning) will significantly reduce travel time between Kanpur and Kabrai from 3.5 hours to just 1.5 hours. As a key segment of the Bhopal-Kanpur Economic Corridor, this project will boost logistics for the mining belt, connect the Defence Corridor, and drive economic development across Kanpur, Hamirpur, and Mahoba districts. Built on the BOT (Toll) model, this project is expected to be completed within 2.5 years, creating a seamless link to Madhya Pradesh.
