Ranchi Student Agitation Intensifies: Crackdown Fails As Probe Demands Mount Against Soren Govt

Three weeks into the student agitation in Ranchi, anger continues to boil over on the streets despite heavy police action during the August 10 Vidhan Sabha Gherao. With police using water cannons and lathi charges, the crackdown has only fueled student resolve, leading to warnings of a siege on CM Hemant Soren’s residence. Protests led by hospitalised student leader Devendra Mahto persist at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, while police have booked over 600 agitators. Meanwhile, former CM Raghubar Das and the BJP have thrown their weight behind the students, demanding a CBI probe into recruitment exam irregularities.
