India has recorded an average annual real GDP growth of 7.9% over the five-year period from 2021-22 to 2025-26, demonstrating resilience amid global uncertainties. Speaking at the India Today Conclave, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Shaktikanta Das outlined India’s economic performance, highlighting robust domestic demand, stronger rural consumption, industrial and services sector activity, and a rebound in merchandise exports. He also discussed three major areas of reform shaping India’s future: the opening up of the space sector to private participation, the government’s ambition to achieve 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047, and a renewed push for offshore oil and gas exploration to reduce import dependence. Das also highlighted the role of India’s structural reforms and the country’s growing contribution to the Global South.
