“Women’s Reservation Will Be Fulfilled”: Kiren Rijiju On Delimitation And Census

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju addresses the government’s position on delimitation and women’s reservation. Speaking about the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, Rijiju says Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a clear commitment that the promise of women’s reservation will be fulfilled. He explains that the legislation passed in 2023 links implementation of the reservation to the census and delimitation process after 2026. Rijiju was also questioned on why women’s reservation cannot be implemented on the current strength of the Lok Sabha. He reiterates that the existing legal framework connects the reservation with the census and subsequent delimitation exercise.
