Remembering her on X, Mazumdar-Shaw called Simone Tata her “shero” and a “doyen of women business leaders,” praising her foresight in establishing Lakmé as a household name. She said Tata’s “acumen and courage” defined an era in Indian cosmetics and described her legacy as one that “will remain etched in history forever.”
The talks focused on urgent urban challenges, including road quality, potholes, waste disposal, traffic management, and key projects such as the Outer Ring Road (ORR) and Peripheral Ring Road (PRR).
After days of sharp social media exchanges over Bengaluru’s crumbling infrastructure, Biocon Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar Shaw and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah finally met face-to-face — joined by Deputy CM DK Shivakumar. The meeting, held around Diwali, appeared to signal a thaw after the public spat that saw Shaw question the government’s performance and Shivakumar publicly criticise her remarks. Following the meeting, the Deputy CM assured that Shaw’s concerns “will be addressed,” marking a shift in tone. Was this meeting a gesture of goodwill, or an act of damage control? As optics change, Bengaluru’s citizens wait to see whether this “Diwali truce” will translate into real action on the ground.
Earlier, Shaw had taken to 'X' to highlight Bengaluru's infrastructure problems after an overseas business visitor to Biocon Park questioned the state of the city’s roads and sanitation.
Potholes, garbage, and gridlock — India’s Silicon Valley is making headlines again, but not for innovation. Biocon founder Kiran Mazumdar Shaw reignited Bengaluru’s infrastructure debate after sharing how an overseas guest was shocked by the city’s poor roads and garbage piles. Tagging top Karnataka leaders — CM Siddaramaiah, DK Shivakumar, and Priyank Kharge — Shaw urged urgent action, saying the city needed focus and accountability. But her comments drew sharp reactions. Deputy CM DK Shivakumar shot back, asking where Shaw had been for 25 years, while Industries Minister MB Patil suggested she use her company’s CSR funds to fix her area first. Veteran tech leader Mohandas Pai came to Shaw’s defence, saying Karnataka’s priorities had shifted from development to politics — even as states like Andhra Pradesh attract major investments like Google’s AI data centre. The BJP has also accused the Congress-led government of ignoring Bengaluru’s real problems.
Many advanced cancers — including lung, pancreatic, and prostate tumors — become resistant to standard treatments, often due to a protein called integrin αvβ3, which is highly expressed in aggressive cancers but absent in normal tissues.
Garbage is a serious malaise countrywide and no municipality of big cities has managed to solve it, says Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw
Days after industry leader and prominent Bengalurean Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw tweeted about infrastructure issues with the city, a political war has broken out over the state of affairs in Karnataka. Nara Lokesh, IT Minister of Andhra Pradesh, took aim at the Congress government in neighbouring Karnataka, highlighting the inability of the state to maintain facilities and infrastructure conducive to the IT industry. In response, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar assured the state remains the top destination for the industry.
In a post on X, Shaw recounted how an overseas business visitor recently questioned the city’s infrastructure: “Why are the roads so bad and why is there so much garbage around? Doesn’t the govt want to support investment? I have just come from China and can’t understand why India can’t get its act together.”
