Big relief for Delhi commuters! 12 junctions, 20% diversion and 6 Metro upgrades

Junction Bypass

A new 5.5-km elevated corridor on Maa Anandmayee Marg could let through-traffic bypass around 12 intersections between Outer Ring Road and Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, potentially changing how commuters move through one of South Delhi's busy stretches.

The Okhla Corridor

The corridor is designed to tackle congestion on a road carrying substantial traffic linked to Okhla Phase I and II industrial areas. The plan also includes an underpass and roundabout at the Crowne Plaza intersection on Okhla Estate Marg.

Traffic Shift

The Mukarba Chowk plan takes a different approach: widen the existing Outer Ring Road ROB from six to 10 lanes and build a new four-lane ROB over the Delhi-Sonipat railway line. The new link is expected to divert around 20% of existing traffic.

Metro Access

Six Delhi Metro stations are also getting multimodal access plans covering roughly 300 metres around each station. The focus is on the often-tricky final stretch of a journey, with better walking routes, last-mile connectivity, safety and interchange between transport modes.

All Cleared

With the latest approvals for GTB Nagar, Sarita Vihar, Akshardham, Rohini West, Malviya Nagar and Shastri Park, all 31 MMI plans prepared by DMRC for its Phase I and Phase II corridors have now received UTTIPEC approval.
