Mickey Virus has a poor first weekend, collects just Rs 5 crore
Mickey Virus, the debut movie of Manish Paul and Elli Avram, had a poor first weekend, collecting about Rs 4.75-5 crore nett at the box office.

The comedy-thriller, made on a budget of Rs 11 crore, which includes publicity and advertising, is also Saurabh Varma's first directorial venture.

On the day of its opening, 'Mickey Virus' lead the new releases with a 15-20 per cent margin. The other releases on Friday of the week gone by were 'Dilli Gang', 'Ishq Actually', 'Sooper Se Ooper' and 'Wake Up India'.

However, the movie failed to cash in on an early start and collected about Rs 1.50 crore nett on its first day - a reasonable figure but not commensurate with its release in about 1200 screens with 6-8 shows on average at major multiplexes.

Boxofficeindia.com analysts say the film showed growth on Saturday but it was limited. Collections on Sunday were just slightly higher than a day earlier's. 'Mickey Virus' fared best in the Delhi NCR belt.

Mickey Virus has time till Thursday to garner more moolah at the box office as 'Krrish 3', the Hrithik Roshan-Priyanka Chopra-Kangana Ranaut starrer, hits the screens on Friday.

The film, according to trade analysts, is expected to register a lifetime business of Rs 7-8 crore nett.
