Motorola has sent out an invitation to the international media for a new smartphone launch on May 13 in London. Unlike the race for launching the flagship smartphone, Motorola might just be looking at coming up with a new phone which will be a mass market phone. The invite states, "Connect more people to the world's information and each other, and they can do great things. It also states, "Made to last. Price for all".

While we will have more information about this new smartphone in the coming two weeks, the buzz on the Internet  indicates that it will be the Moto E featuring a 4.2-inch 720p display, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM and 4GB of storage, a 5 megapixel camera, and a 1900mAh battery.

Motorola's Moto G and Moto X were the first two smartphones announced after Google's acquisition. The two phones sold very well. With the Moto G, Motorola returned to the Indian market by launching the phone on Flipkart and not the offline retail channel. This was followed by the Moto X. While neither Flipkart nor Motorola shared the numbers of the units sold, the Moto G 16GB variant was sold out within the first hour of going on sale on Flipkart.

Interestingly, the focus of the global players too is shifting towards the low-end segment of the curve. Recently, HTC announced Desire 201 for Rs 8,700. Even Sony has launched the Xperia E1, a dual SIM phone for Rs 8,200. As the Motorola's upcoming smartphone will be priced for all, it might stir this segment as it did with the Moto G.

With Motorola getting aggressive in the Indian market, this new phone might launch in India soon, too.

Motorola is holding a parallel event in New Delhi on May 13 where the company will talk about the new phone and its India launch plan. Motorola has shared an invite with  Business Today.
