
At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said AI is a foundational technology central to India’s growth vision. He outlined a five-layer AI strategy covering applications, sovereign models, compute, infrastructure and clean energy. Vaishnaw said India is building real-world AI solutions across healthcare, agriculture, education and finance to ensure benefits reach the masses. He highlighted a public-private compute platform offering 38,000 GPUs, with 20,000 more planned. Emphasising data localisation, renewable energy and nuclear reforms, he said India is creating a trusted, scalable AI ecosystem, with global recognition reflected in Stanford’s AI Index rankings.
