A newly constructed flyover in Mira-Bhayander near Mumbai has sparked alarm after a four-lane stretch abruptly narrows into two lanes, catching motorists off guard. Commuters fear the sudden transition could lead to traffic snarls and accidents, triggering a storm on social media. Many have drawn comparisons with the controversial Bhopal Rail Over Bridge, notorious for its sharp turn and engineering lapses. Political leaders, including Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Aaditya Thackeray, have criticised the design as “horrid.” MMRDA, however, insists the narrowing is intentional, part of a phased plan for future expansion as the Rs 100-crore flyover nears opening.
