Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered Russia’s fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet to India, pitching it as one of the world’s most advanced and capable combat aircraft. The offer comes as India looks to strengthen its air power while pushing ahead with its indigenous AMCA fifth-generation fighter programme. The Su-57 brings stealth, advanced radar, AI-assisted systems, thrust vectoring, electronic warfare capabilities and supercruise. India already operates Rafale, Su-30MKI and Tejas fighters. Putin’s offer also underlines the decades-old India-Russia defence partnership and could add a new dimension to India’s search for a fifth-generation fighter.
