Axis Bank Q2 net profit rises 25%

Private sector lender Axis Bank recorded 25 per cent increase in net profit at Rs 920.32 crore for this fiscal's second quarter ended September 30.

The bank had a net profit of Rs 735.14 crore in the corresponding quarter last fiscal, Axis Bank said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The total income of the lender also increased to Rs 6,510.89 crore during the July-September quarter, from Rs 4,657.49 crore over the same period last year.

During the first half of 2011-12, the bank clocked 26 per cent rise in net profit to Rs 1,862.67 crore, compared to Rs 1,477.02 crore in the same period a year ago.

The bank reported a total income of Rs 12,560.16 crore in the first six months, compared to Rs 8,983.86 crore in the previous financial year.
