From Russian miniatures to African beads: The BRICS Bazaar taking over Delhi

Global Bazaar

Delhi has turned into a colourful crossroads of craftsmanship, with the BRICS Bazaar bringing traditional art, handmade products and cultural expressions from 18 countries together. The six-day showcase offers visitors a rare chance to see how very different cultures tell their stories through craft.

Russian Miniatures

One of the bazaar's most intriguing displays comes from Russia, where Fedoskino lacquer miniature painting takes centre stage. The tradition dates back around 200 years, offering visitors a glimpse into an intricate art form built around tiny details, elaborate imagery and painstaking craftsmanship.

African Beadwork

South Africa brings a burst of colour and texture to the Delhi showcase through intricate African beadwork. Durban-based artisan Nkosinathi Zondi is displaying handmade jewellery and accessories, turning traditional techniques into pieces that visitors can see up close and explore.

Indian Showcase

India is making a major statement at the bazaar, with more than 25 handicraft artisans displaying, demonstrating and selling their creations directly to visitors. The event also opens a window for these craftspeople to connect with exporters, businesses and international buyers.

Craft Diplomacy

The bazaar is about more than shopping. Organised by the Ministries of Textiles and External Affairs, the event uses traditional crafts and cultural performances as a bridge between BRICS members and partners, putting artisans at the centre of a wider conversation on friendship and cooperation.
