"Hum Amar Hain": Mirzapur brings back Munna Bhaiya for its big screen debut

One of India's most prominent crime drama franchises is finally making its debut on the big screen. Mirzapur aired for three seasons on Amazon Prime Video before transitioning to cinema halls nationwide.

On Wednesday, creators released character posters featuring Munna Bhaiya, Guddu Bhaiya, and Kaleen Bhaiya. Fans across social media erupted with excitement the moment the posters were unveiled.

Pankaj Tripathi reprises his role as Akhandanand "Kaleen" Tripathi, the formidable carpet king whose influence has always shaped the narrative. His poster carries the tagline: "Aapka swagat karte hain bade parde par."

Ali Fazal returns as Guddu Pandit, a character who began his journey out of necessity but now appears to relish the pursuit of power. His caption reads: "Shuru majboori mein kiye the, ab maja aa raha hai."

The most unexpected return is Divyenndu as Munna Bhaiya. His Season 2 demise had seemed conclusive — but his poster boldly proclaims: "Hindi philam ke hero hain hum, kaha tha na, hum amar hain."

The extensive cast also features Shweta Tripathi, Ravi Kishan, Jitendra Kumar, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Duggal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and many other familiar faces from the original series.

The film releases globally in theatres on September 4, 2026, in Hindi and Telugu — marking the franchise's first complete theatrical experience. The teaser drops June 25 at 12 PM.
