Apple said that it
sold 5 million units of iPhone 5 in the three days since its launch but the tally was less than the expectations of analysts.
iPhone 5's sales tally beats that of its previous version's mark by only a small margin. Apple had sold 4 million units of iPhone 4S in the first three days.
iPhone 5 goes on sale in 22 more countries on Friday and in more than 100 countries by the end of the year.
Earlier, Samsung had said that global sales of
Galaxy S3 breached the 20 million mark in just 100 days after its debut in May 2012.
