Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has highlighted the role of infrastructure in driving India’s economic growth, saying the country’s logistics costs have fallen from 16% to 9% of GDP. Gadkari said better roads and expressways are improving connectivity, supporting trade and industry, and creating employment opportunities. He cited travel-time reductions, including Delhi to Meerut, which now takes around 45–50 minutes compared with three-and-a-half hours earlier. He also highlighted ongoing road projects worth ₹1.6 lakh crore in Delhi, saying improved infrastructure can ease traffic congestion, reduce pollution, boost tourism and help India achieve its economic ambitions.
