Switch on your AC with an SMS

On Wednesday, MIRC Electronics India (Onida) unveiled the new PreCool range of air conditioners that allows one to switch on/off the AC with the help of an SMS. Accessible from anywhere in the world, the PreCool range of ACs will come pre-packaged with a PreCool device that will work with a normal SIM card. By typing a certain code and sending an SMS to the PreCool device will enable remote access.

Vipul Mathur, GM and Business Group Head, ONIDA Air Conditioner, MIRC Electronics Ltd. explained, "The hot summers in India and growing Indian economy have created very strong growth triggers for the Indian AC market. During the severe summer, if a consumer has to wait even 10 minutes for the AC to cool the room, it is a very painful 10 minutes. Keeping this in mind, ONIDA has developed the unique PreCool range of ACs that enable consumers to operate the AC from wherever they are, merely by sending an SMS.

The PreCool AC range is priced from Rs 17,990 onwards and the PreCool device worth Rs 2,990 will become bundled. Interestingly, this device can be used as a fully loaded multimedia phone as well. To increase the sales, the company has introduced attractive EMI options starting Rs 1,499.
