Former FM P Chidambaram: GST Cut More Beneficial, But GST Council Structure Flawed

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has criticised the GST Council's voting structure, calling it “anti-federal”. He stated that the Council voting structure is such that without the central government's support, no proposal can be passed in the council. Chidambaram also advocated for GST cuts and reduction in petrol and diesel prices to put more money in the hands of the masses, saying the move will be more beneficial than the income tax cut announced in the Budget.
