On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at BT Davos 2026, Rajan Mittal, Vice Chairman, Bharti Enterprises and Past President, FICCI, speaks to Rajdeep Sardesai, Consulting Editor, India Today, on the shifting global economic order.

Mittal candidly notes that in these uncertain times - when Donald Trump’s return to the global spotlight looms large, both at WEF and in boardrooms worldwide - the trust deficit between nations is at its lowest. He stresses that while trade deals will remain crucial, they must be equitable and balanced to sustain long-term global growth.

Striking an optimistic note on India, Mittal says the country is relatively well-positioned despite global volatility. Indian entrepreneurs, he adds, will have to navigate this complex environment with agility, but growth ambitions remain intact and capital expenditure is not expected to be overtly impacted, reflecting confidence in India’s economic fundamentals.
