
As part of her four-day visit to Ballari district, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the world heritage site of Hampi and offered prayers at the Virupaksheshwara Temple. Speaking to the media, she said she felt “fortunate” to witness the rich art, culture, and history of the Vijayanagar Empire, calling it a moment of national pride. Sitharaman added that excavation and development works are underway to preserve Hampi’s grandeur. She was also briefed about the site’s glorious heritage by MP Tukaram and members of the royal family of Sri Krishnadevaraya.
