The newly formed D.K. Shivakumar government in Karnataka is facing its first major political controversy. The BJP has alleged a massive ₹36,000 crore scam linked to a solid waste management project, claiming that a blacklisted Delhi-based company was awarded a 30-year contract. The opposition has further alleged a ₹10,000 crore kickback and demanded a CBI investigation into the matter. BJP leaders have linked the controversy to the ongoing tussle over cabinet portfolios in the Congress government. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has strongly denied all allegations, dismissing them as politically motivated. The issue is set to intensify the political battle between the BJP and Congress in Karnataka.
