Karnataka’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has sparked allegations of voters being deleted without proper verification. India Today went on the ground in Bengaluru and Vijayapura to investigate the claims. In Bengaluru’s Ulsoor, eight members of a Muslim joint family of 32 voters allegedly found their names removed, with records citing them as “absent” or “permanently shifted”. The family says they have lived and voted in the same area for decades. In Vijayapura, voters allegedly marked as dead protested outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office, demanding answers. Congress leaders also raised allegations, while BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal backed the call for verification.
