Torrential rain has triggered devastating flash floods and landslides across Keralam, leaving several people dead, many missing, and thousands displaced. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for 12 districts as relentless rainfall continues to batter the state. Floodwaters have inundated homes in Kottayam and Pathanamthitta, while roads have turned into rivers in several districts. More than 200 relief camps have been opened to shelter affected families. Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan has held an emergency review meeting and directed ministers to remain on the ground to oversee rescue and relief operations.
