Etihad Airways in final stages of talks with Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines: Reuters

A top government official told reporters on Monday that Gulf-based Etihad Airways is in final stages of talks with Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines to buy a stake in either of them.

"Etihad has not yet decided. They are talking to both," said the official who asked not to be named, according to a Reuters report. The deal could come by next week, the official told Reuters.

Shares of Jet Airways jumped 2.35 per cent on Monday to Rs 623.50 on the Bombay Stock Exchange while Vijay Mallya-owned cash strapped Kingfisher Airlines' shares lost 4.96 per cent to Rs 16.85 on the bourse.
